I started The Art of the Mind Inc., a non-profit organization that provides financial assistance for people who need counseling, because of my own experiences and the experiences of those around me. I’ve had so many loved ones express to me that they are struggling with something and wish they could speak to a counselor about it, but could not afford it. There are some cheaper alternatives, but unfortunately they usually only last for a couple of sessions or the discount is not enough. So much of our lives are ruled by how we feel within. How we view ourselves filters how we view our ability, how we love, and how we receive love, and so much more. I am convinced that if we all could take better care of our mental health without money getting in the way, we could contribute to our lives in a much more positive way and we could come together and make a big change. I am doing this for the individual, but I am really doing this for us as a whole as well.
The Art of the Mind Inc.’s first annual charity art gala is Friday, September 6th. There will be amazing artwork for sale from several local artists, dinner and dessert hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, great music, mental health/health-focused vendors such as Kontently Kara, and a raffle for great prizes. The dress code is black tie-optional and tickets will be available for purchase until Thursday night (the night before). I am so excited for people to get all dressed up, when do we ever really get to do that? Everyone is going to feel so good about themselves, and it will all be for a good cause.
